My drawing constructions serve as recordings or mappings of life experiences. The found objects function as icons, allowing me to ‘draw’ with the ready-made object’s physical and associative qualities. This means I take into consideration the material, surface, weight, mass, and volume as well as what these characteristics may associate for the viewer. For instance, wire is both a visual line as well as a method of connecting one or more materials. The more traditional materials of charcoal/graphite and paper are the indexical mappings of live events. These exist as proof of the time and space the event occurred. I want the combination of these materials to act as a conduit for recognizing the relationship of the visceral and emotive aspects in our lives.
